Sunday Song: Good Worship

A good praise-and-worship song for Sunday!

Love Is Here- Tenth Avenue North

Saturday, March 19, 2011

Since it's Saturday...

I decided to do a song that gets stuck in your head and keeps on running through it, forever and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever, and ever...

Keri Hilson- Pretty Girl Rock
The song is very...vain sounding, but I read the video description and found out it's actually not about vanity, totally. If you really listen to the song you can hear her saying, "You're beautiful, tell 'em that you're beautiful!" [I think.] And, you realize, after a while, she's talking about every girl doing the 'Pretty Girl Rock'.

Or, maybe I just see the best in people. xD

Enjoy!

Summer/Spring Song

Todays summer/spring song is...

Say Hey [I Love You]- Micheal Franti

Sweet, happy and warm! This song mixes some of my favorite things: accents, perfecting dancing rhythm, and actual love. [Whoa, that sounded sappy. Excuse me.] I have yet to explore any of Micheal Franti's other music; I will soon though, just so I can share it with you! Haha!

Mysterious Music

Subject/Topic of Music in this Post: Mysterious Music

I love mysterious music, it inspires me to write and dance. Someone who is really good at mysterious music is, Florence and the Machine. I'm going to share some of her songs and a few other artist. And guess what! Next post will most likely be on Epic Music. Yes, Epic. That is actually a genre of music. You hear it mostly in movies, if I'm right.

Now, for Mysterious Music.

Florence and the Machine- Cosmic Love

Florence and the Machine- Howl

Florence and the Machine- Blinding

Oh Land- Sun of a Gun

I'm kind of sad to say that right now...I can't think of anymore. Yeah, pathetic, right? I'm sure to think of more in about a hour--when I'm far away from my computer.

Well, I hope you like them!

Spring Weather Songs

Since today felt so nice I decided I'd make a post of songs that remind me of Spring or Summer, the best seasons of them all. [Well, Autumn is amazing too, but you know, we all agree that Autumn is usually a lot like Summer or Spring for a while.] I hope you like the music I share in this post, because, of course, I do!

1. Emilie Mover- Ordinary Day
2. Jack Johnson- Better Together

3. Hawk Nelson- California

4. Train- Hey, Soul Sister

5. Owl City- Fireflies

6. Panic! At the Disco- Nine in the Afternoon

Have fun exploring my music. :]
More to come, in the spring/summer collection!

Rock Me Mama and Classical

The first blog post containing music is here [five minutes after the first post on the blog. Haha!] Anyway, I thought I would start with good old 'classical' music but there has been a certain song stuck in my head all day. And that would be:

Old Crow Medicine Show- Wagon Wheel

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yswz5MtGey0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

This song is very, very catchy. I didn't put the actual music video because I'm afraid it contains a few poorly dressed girls that I didn't really wish to share. This song brings back some pretty good memories of my stepping out of my comfort zone and trying, although I failed, sort of, to excel. Good time, good time.

Lyrics:
Headed down south to the land of the pinesI'm thumbin' my way into North Caroline
Starin’ up the road
And pray to God I see headlights
I made it down the coast in seventeen hours
Pickin’ me a bouquet of dogwood flowers
And I'm a hopin’ for Raleigh
I can see my baby tonight
Chorus:So rock me mama like a wagon wheel
Rock me mama anyway you feel
Hey mama rock me
Rock me mama like the wind and the rain
Rock me mama like a south-bound train
Hey mama rock me
Runnin' from the cold up in New EnglandI was born to be a fiddler in an old-time string band
My baby plays the guitar
I pick a banjo now
Oh, the North country winters keep a gettin’ me now
Lost my money playin’ poker so I had to up and leave
But I ain’t a turnin’ back
To livin’ that old life no more
(Chorus)Walkin' to the south out of RoanokeI caught a trucker out of Philly
Had a nice long toke
But he's a headed west from the Cumberland Gap
To Johnson City, Tennessee
And I gotta get a move on fit for the sun
I hear my baby callin’ my name
And I know that she's the only one
And if I die in Raleigh
At least I will die free
(Chorus)

Now to the 'classical' music, in a sense. I'll start with one song that makes me want to smile every time I hear it.

Mischa Maisky- Bach's Prelude Suite No. 1

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/S6yuR8efotI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Next, an eerie song that expires me to write! I usually come up with something totally creepy--but at least I'm writing, right?

Ludwig Beethoven- Moonlight Sonata

<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vQVeaIHWWck" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

And the final one for this post:

Pachelbel's Canon
<iframe title="YouTube video player" width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8Af372EQLck" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I hope you enjoy the classical and the non-classical. :]

I'm also sorry if any of the videos didn't turn out right--my computer was causing me so problems.

My Heart Beats: The Blog of Music

Hello all!
This is Lia and my newest blog, dedicated to all the music I like:

My Heart Beats

My main blog is {The Magnolia House}. You're welcome to take a look at it! While that blog is devoted to anything and everything about me, this one is about the music I like and new music I have found that I also enjoy.

I'll add lyrics to the songs, if any, and how I found it and, occasionally, suggesting other bands that are similar to the one I show to you.

I hope you enjoy the music too!
